Things To Do For Momma

Whether you're a kid or you're grown,

doing something for your mom (or even someone you view as your mom) is really important.

We go through life pretty quickly these days and it's nice to take every opportunity to do something nice for the people that you love. This includes the person responsible for your well being from the time you're born and on through life. Moms usually dedicate their whole life to making sure that their kids are taken care of. Don't forget to take care of momma, and remind her that you appreciate everything she's done for you-- big or small!

I'm putting together a list of things that you could do for her. Some of these things are easy to throw together, some of them are events and things to do with your mom, and some are just little reminders and ways to show your love to her.

First, decide if you can take the time out of your day to take mom on a date.

There are plenty of different things to do, depending on what she likes and what y'all can make happen- either on Mother's Day or on a day surrounding that holiday.

A few ideas I have are:

  • Have Some Brunch

Take her out to your favorite brunch spot. Surprise her, if you can, by picking her up or telling her to meet you somewhere you know she'd enjoy. Spend the morning laughing and explaining how she's made you a better person. There's nothing better than enjoying good food with good company. There are restaurants for every palate and tons of places around to make that happen. If you can't make it out, why not make brunch or order in? If that's more your style, there are plenty of ways to make something delicious and meaningful and invite her over for coffee or a mimosa while you whip up something yummy or while you wait for your brunch to be dropped off. You'd be surprised how much your mom would enjoy it.

  • Take Her To a Garden Store

If you need an analogy- use the analogy for life. You can take her out and explain that you'd like to give her life and something that expresses how much you appreciate her giving you life and keeping you alive. Plants don't only look nice, but they often help liven up a room and act as a wonderful gift that can continue living forever. It's a step up from the stereotypical floral arrangement you can find. Plus, there are so many neat garden stores offering a wide array of indoor and outdoor plants. If you really want to make a day of it, plan to get some awesome little seeds or trees and head back home to play in the garden. You can take a small date and make it big by planting something that you can take care of together. She (and even you!) would absolutely love it!

  • Send Her To a Spa

We all know that moms are in need of a day off. Maybe the perfect way to show her that you care is by sending her away to a spa, either for an hour massage or for the day full of every kind of spa treatment you can think of. You can even tweak the idea and send her off for a nice manicure or pedicure. There are even cute little spots that will serve her a mimosa or coffee while she's getting pampered. What better way to let her know you care than to give her some much needed time to sit and get taken care of herself?

  • Take Her To Your Favorite Candy Shop

We all know moms love chocolate... so bring her to a place you know she'll get some goodies that she can appreciate. Sometimes just a little piece of candy or chocolate can bring on a smile. If you're looking for a candy shop, come into the Candy Basket and get her a bouquet of chocolate roses. Pick out her favorite bites from our chocolate case and have us wrap a nice bow around the box. Better yet, make her a basket of all of her favorite things-- and don't forget the chocolate! Right now we've got our store decked out for all of the lovely moms out there, complete with reds, pinks, and purples. The chocolate roses are killer, and we've got cute little assortments of different types of candy every mom is bound to love.

Alas,

If you can't take a day for mom, there's always the good standby methods of letting her know you care. While you can go to a store and buy her a nice card and some flowers, why don't you try your hand in making her something special? It's easy to make her something simple. Go out and pick her some of your favorite flowers (preferably not from somebody else's garden or yard), make a bouquet and tie a nice ribbon around it. Write her a letter, make her a card, just make sure that your gesture is thoughtful and expressive of how much you care.

Moms are important, there's a reason we have a whole day dedicated to them after all.

Take some time out of your busy schedule to show that you care. She'll thank you for it, and it's the least you can do.
